i wanna talk for a second about how on their instagram post fall out boy said “she can pick up a guitar and know that it is a weapon”
they didnt use “he” to refer to their fans, they’re acknowledging that 90% of the people reading that quote identify as female and they’re doing it in a respectful way without poking fun
how many pop punk bands never talk about their fan base as being mostly female, or if they do they refer to them as “screaming fangirls”??like when i was growing up, if a band said “anyone can do what we’ve done” they were really saying “any young adult man can do what we’ve done”
to have a band as influential as fall out boy look at 13-18 year old girls, the most notoriously not-taken-seriously demographic, and say “we take you seriously, and you can do this if you want it enough” is such a big deal and it’s gonna empower and inspire so many young girls
